Using and Citing the Assessment

We encourage everyone to use and cite information from the New York State Climate Impacts Assessment. The material generated as part of this assessment is being published via Open Access and licensed via Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0), which permits commercial and non-commercial reuse as long as the author is properly attributed. We ask that you please use the recommended citation below. 

For images from the assessment, please note a few additional details: 

  • Certain figures (i.e., charts, graphs, maps, and graphic visualizations) were originally created by others and have been reproduced or adapted for this assessment. These figures have been noted accordingly in their captions—for example, “Figure from Gruenberg et al. (2021)” or “Adapted from a figure by L. Patrick and P. Orton in Orton et al. (2019).” If you wish to republish or adapt these figures, you will also need permission from the original publisher. 
  • All other figures were produced by the assessment authors and may be reused, republished, or adapted with attribution as described below. 
  • Photos that appear in assessment chapters or on our website are generally subject to copyright and are not available for use outside of the assessment.
